Preparation

The Little One (EJ) will be having some surgery tomorrow. It's a relatively simple procedure but it's my baby.

When EJ was 2 months old, he was diagnosed with his first ear infection. By the time he was 8 months old, he'd endured 7 ear infections. We were referred to the ENT and he, of course, decided that tubes were the best way to go. That was 2 years ago. At our last 6 month check up, the doctor told me that it appeared the tubes were making their way out of the ear so it was basically a wait-and-see pattern. Sure enough, less than a week later, EJ had an ear infection. It cleared up with a round of antibiotics but less than two weeks later, it was back. EJ's pediatrician advised me to take him back to the ENT to determine the best course of treatment.

I made the appointment and went in. The doctor took a look in his ears and noted that there was a good bit of fluid built up behind his ear drums. He recommended doing a second set of tubes and look at removing his adenoids.

So, that is where we are today. We have to be at the hospital at 7:30 tomorrow morning and his surgery is supposed to start at 8:30. The procedure itself is pretty quick ... about 20 minutes from start to finish. I have the utmost faith in God (the Great Physician) and our earthly doctor (who, by the way, is a Christian - he volunteered the information!!).

While there is no reason to believe there will be any complications, please pray that all will go well. If I have a chance tomorrow, I will post a quick update.
